How God’s Power Created the World

Rev. 4:11 “Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created.”

People glorify God and His creation every week when they rest as their Creator did after His work in making the world and all living creatures.

Ex. 20:11 for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day; therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day and hallowed it.

On the Sabbath day, part of a person’s prayer might resemble the following verse. For without the creation, there would be no one to praise and worship the Creator. While few are willing to acknowledge God on the Sabbath, those who do, receive understanding of their relationship with God and blessing from that relationship.

Rev. 4:11 “Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created.”

The Power of the Word in the Creation

In the beginning created God… the first two Hebrew words in God’s Word says reshith, in the beginning, bara, created. Even before the Creator’s name is mentioned, God tells us about the beginning and His Creation.

Gen. 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Gen 1:2 “…[T]he Spirit of God hovered over the surface of the waters.”

Ruach in Hebrew means spirit, breath, wind or mind. Rachaph means hover, moved or vibrated. The verse might be translated as “the breath of God vibrated over the surface of the waters.” The vocal folds in the throat cause a person’s breath to vibrate.

Suppose, the translations of ruach, spirit, was instead, breath of God, then God’s breath became the atmosphere to hover or move over the waters. God’s breath, which became the atmosphere, entered Adam’s lungs like resuscitation, and he received the atmospheric breath of life. More importantly, this breath contained language from God, His grammar and a tiny part of His vocabulary, thereby, Adam could think and speak.

The power of God’s Word and Command brought a world into existence and made that world out of God’s Wisdom, His love and Commandments.

Jer. 10:12 ¶ It is He who made the earth by His power,
         Who established the world by His wisdom;
         And by His understanding He has stretched out the heavens.

Here again, we can understand the power of God’s voice, that which comes forth from God’s power, thoughts and language.

Jer. 10:13 When He utters His voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens,
         And He causes the clouds to ascend from the end of the earth;
         He makes lightning for the rain,
         And brings out the wind from His storehouses.

As God exists, we know Him from His communication, both verbal language and body language, that He is All Powerful and all power and matter comes from His Power, the power of love seen in that creation.

Psa. 62:11 Once God has spoken;
         Twice I have heard this:
         That power belongs to God;

The psalmist reiterates, as is fitting, and praises the Creator and His Creation. All these came from Him, not some Big Bang or evolution, and are His. Even when He delegates authority to people, that authority is not theirs but God’s to be used by them according to God’s direction and Commandments.

Psa. 89:11 ¶           The heavens are Yours, the earth also is Yours;
         The world and all it contains, You have founded them.
Psa. 89:12    The north and the south, You have created them;
         Tabor and Hermon shout for joy at Your name.
Psa. 89:13    You have a strong arm;
         Your hand is mighty, Your right hand is exalted.

Here again the psalmist notes how God used His power to create all that is. He commanded the world into existence using the power of His breath in articulating the Words of creation. Language is a quintessential aspect of God’s nature.

Psa. 33:6 By the word of the LORD the heavens were made,
         And by the breath of His mouth all their host.

Psa. 33:9 For He spoke, and it was done;
         He commanded, and it stood fast.

God controls and directs His power by His lovingkindness, His wisdom and understanding. Creating good and teaching those made in His image the ways of love and wisdom inherent in the creation provide the impetus and controlling aspect of the power of God’s Word.

Jer. 10:12 ¶ It is He who made the earth by His power,
         Who established the world by His wisdom;
         And by His understanding He has stretched out the heavens.
Jer. 10:13     When He utters His voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens,
         And He causes the clouds to ascend from the end of the earth;
         He makes lightning for the rain,
         And brings out the wind from His storehouses.

Those who learn God’s Word and make it a part of their lives have proprietary possession of His power.

Jer. 27:5 “I have made the earth, the men and the beasts which are on the face of the earth by My great power and by My outstretched arm, and I will give it to the one who is pleasing in My sight.

Jer. 32:17 ‘Ah Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for You,
Jer. 32:18 who shows lovingkindness to thousands, but repays the iniquity of fathers into the bosom of their children after them, O great and mighty God. The LORD of hosts is His name;
Jer. 32:19 great in counsel and mighty in deed, whose eyes are open to all the ways of the sons of men, giving to everyone according to his ways and according to the fruit of his deeds;
Jer. 32:20 who has set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, and even to this day both in Israel and among mankind; and You have made a name for Yourself, as at this day.

To know God’s power does not take a genius, for he only needs to look around at the power within the creation. The power of the sun gives a hint of His power. Wind, be careful of its force, demonstrates the power created into the Earth. The volcano’s power at work within tells us of God’s power to create this force, and tells us to stay clear of its great, and often dormant, explosive nature.

Is. 40:26 Lift up your eyes on high
         And see who has created these stars,
         The One who leads forth their host by number,
         He calls them all by name;
         Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power,
         Not one of them is missing.
Is. 40:27 ¶    Why do you say, O Jacob, and assert, O Israel,
         “My way is hidden from the LORD,
         And the justice due me escapes the notice of my God”?
Is. 40:28       Do you not know? Have you not heard?
         The Everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth
         Does not become weary or tired.
         His understanding is inscrutable.
Is. 40:29       He gives strength to the weary,
         And to him who lacks might He increases power.

God’s power, and the power of the Word, “is evident” because nothing can hide God’s character and uniqueness. Amazingly, those who study nature have no clue.

Rom. 1:19 because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.
Rom. 1:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

1Chr. 29:11 “Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O LORD, and You exalt Yourself as head over all.

Spirit, Wind, Breath, The Expression
Of God’s Power.

Gen. 1:3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.

Gen. 1:6 ¶ Then God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.”

Job notes that his every inhalation comes from God and gives him life. What is the characteristic of the atmosphere that connects it to life from God? God breathed into the atmosphere the breath of life as He did with Adam. Genesis 1:2 just might suggest that. See above with more in another article.

Job 33:4 “The Spirit of God has made me,
         And the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

Power of the Word of Truth

Compare to all the great power we see in the creation, as mentioned above, there is no greater power than the whole of God’s Word. The foundation of the entire creation is the love and life found in the Word.

Psa. 119:160          The sum of Your word is truth,

Job 32:8 “But it is a spirit in man,
         And the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding.

God’s mighty breath gives people the truth of learning to love God as He loves people. The Truth gives people the weapons they need to fend off all evil ways, but the power of His Truth seems only to be recognized and used by the sons and daughters adopted by Him.

2Cor. 6:7 in the word of truth, in the power of God; by the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and the left,

James 1:18 In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures.

Is. 8:11 ¶ For thus the LORD spoke to me with mighty power and instructed me not to walk in the way of this people, saying,

Power of Prophecy (Words)

He Is the Almighty God; therefore, His power has no limits. We see all power on Earth as limited; so it is difficult of visualize and comprehend His all-powerful nature. That His Word always comes true is all we need to know about the assuredness of His almighty power.

Num. 11:23 The LORD said to Moses, “Is the LORD’S power limited? Now you shall see whether My word will come true for you or not.”
Num. 11:24 ¶ So Moses went out and told the people the words of the LORD. Also, he gathered seventy men of the elders of the people, and stationed them around the tent.
Num. 11:25 Then the LORD came down in the cloud and spoke to him; and He took of the Spirit who was upon him and placed Him upon the seventy elders. And when the Spirit rested upon them, they prophesied. But they did not do it again.

Again the powerful Truth brings about great events. When a person walks with God, in His Way learned from His Word, God will bring great blessings and eventually eternal life. God instructed Abraham to thus walk and His faith eventually led to Israel and Jesus.

Gen. 17:1  ¶ Now when Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him,
         “I am God Almighty;
         Walk before Me, and be blameless.
Gen. 17:2     “I will establish My covenant between Me and you,
         And I will multiply you exceedingly.”

Gen. 28:3 “May God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and multiply you, that you may become a company of peoples.
Gen. 28:4 “May He also give you the blessing of Abraham, to you and to your descendants with you, that you may possess the land of your sojournings, which God gave to Abraham.”

Listen the Word God spoke to Ezekiel to know that God will not delay the great Day of the Lord when the time comes. Then all kingdoms of Earth will become the Kingdom of God with power.

Ezek. 12:25 “For I the LORD will speak, and whatever word I speak will be performed. It will no longer be delayed, for in your days, O rebellious house, I will speak the word and perform it,” declares the Lord GOD.’”

Majestic Power

God exhibits He power through His Word and by His deeds, akin to body language. Those who recognize God’s creation also praise Him for His majesty because He rules what is His.

Ex. 15:6 “Your right hand, O LORD, is majestic in power,
         Your right hand, O LORD, shatters the enemy.

Psa. 21:13 Be exalted, O LORD, in Your strength;
         We will sing and praise Your power.

God’s Word reiterates the fact that those who live according to God’s Commandments will receive blessings and be able to use God’s might in doing good.

1Chr. 29:12 “Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all, and in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone.

1Chr. 16:28 Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the peoples,
         Ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.

Another reiteration of God’s majesty specifically states His “dominion” over all.

1Chr. 29:11 “Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O LORD, and You exalt Yourself as head over all.

From Genesis to Revelation, those who believe God sing praises to Him because He saves people with His majestic strength.

Rev. 19:1 ¶ After these things I heard something like a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying,
¶ “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God;

When those who believe God have finally come to fruition, and when those who hate God sink to the lowest level since antediluvian days, God will rule all on Earth with His saving and loving power.

Rev. 11:17 saying,
¶ “We give You thanks, O Lord God, the Almighty, who are and who were, because You have taken Your great power and have begun to reign.

Effect of His Power: Faith

People, who recognize His power, as we said, believe God as Israel did during the Exodus. So when God said to get out of town, they trusted God to pack up quickly and leave immediately. Their faith was not forgotten as other followed in their steps later.

Ex. 14:31 When Israel saw the great power which the LORD had used against the Egyptians, the people feared the LORD, and they believed in the LORD and in His servant Moses.

Of course, God protects those who believe Him, as Abraham did, is another example.

1Pet. 1:5 who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

God protects people by His power, the power of the Word, the “word of truth.”

2Cor. 6:7 in the word of truth, in the power of God; by the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and the left,

The most powerful offensive weapon God gives believers is His Word. Like an ancient warrior, God’s Word attacks all evil, deceit and opposition by a sword.

Eph. 6:17 And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

The great enemy God’s Word slaughters is the deceit of the demon, which people call the “wisdom of men,” or the observation of men called science. These are faux powers with no other reality than deceptions.

1Cor. 2:5 so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God.

2Cor. 10:4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.

God’s Word explains the true nature of the enemy clothed in spurious light and faux armor and how to defeat it with His Word.

Eph. 6:11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
Eph. 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Eph. 6:13 Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.

God did not waste His power of His Word, as it resulted in the creation and salvation afterward. God destroyed the power of death by the power of life from His Word.

1Pet. 1:21 who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

Power of the Resurrection

The goal of God’s almighty power has always existed for the great purpose, to bring many people into the Kingdom of God. While death came into the world by Satan’s deceptions, God uses His Power to bring those who believe Him back to life in the resurrection, just as He brought His adopted Son to life after he died for sin, thus defeating the wiles of the demon.

People keep the Way because of the hope of eternal life they learned from the gospel, “the word of truth.”

Col. 1:5 because of the hope laid up for you in heaven, of which you previously heard in the word of truth, the gospel.

The most powerful Truth is: death could not hold Jesus in its grip because God raised that sinless man from the dead to end the ways of evil. The hope of life fills the hearts of those who believe God as they follow the Way to the glorious goal.

Rom. 1:4 who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord,

God’s almighty power defeated the enemy, and He imparts that power into those who trust Him.

2Cor. 13:4 For indeed He was crucified because of weakness, yet He lives because of the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, yet we will live with Him because of the power of God directed toward you.

So, take the sword and use it because it has all power to destroy evil. Take the Word of Power from Almighty God, for it will never fail its users.

Eph. 6:14 Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS,
Eph. 6:15 and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE;
Eph. 6:16 in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
Eph. 6:17 And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

After all, the power of the Word of Truth has its fulfillment in the resurrection.

James 1:18 In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures.

Conclusion

Rev. 19:1 ¶ After these things I heard something like a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying,
 “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God;

Amen.
