The Perfect Gift

God offers us many gifts. How do we receive the right gift?

Gen. 12:14 It came about when Abram came into Egypt, the Egyptians saw that the woman was very beautiful. Senuous mind set.
Gen. 12:15 Pharaoh’s officials saw her and praised her to Pharaoh; and the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s house.
Gen. 12:16 Therefore he treated Abram well for her sake; and gave him sheep and oxen and donkeys and male and female servants and female donkeys and camels.

What happened?

Gen. 13:10 Lot lifted up his eyes and saw all the valley of the Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere—this was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah—like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt as you go to Zoar.
Gen. 13:11 So Lot chose for himself all the valley of the Jordan, and Lot journeyed eastward. Thus they separated from each other.

What happened?

Mark 7:20 And He was saying, “That which proceeds out of the man, that is what defiles the man.  21 “For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed the evil thoughts, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries,  22 deeds of coveting and wickedness, as well as deceit, sensuality [sensuous], envy, slander, pride [and power over others] and foolishness.

Gen. 6:5 ¶ Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Gen. 11:6 The LORD said, “Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them.

No matter what man may do to try to make themselves a single language and people will never work because langauge and culture will not be changed, except linguistic changes—pronounciation, vocabulary and the like. But the grammar and order of the language will not change.

Jer. 4:14 Wash your heart from evil, O Jerusalem,
         That you may be saved.
         How long will your wicked thoughts
         Lodge within you?

James 1:16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.
James 1:17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. [like language]

James 1:5 ¶ But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

James 1:25 But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.
 
James 1:18 In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures.

James 1:19This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger;
James 1:20 for the anger [anger, indignation, vengeance, wrath] of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.

Gen. 4:5 but for Cain and for his offering He had no regard. So Cain became very angry and his countenance fell.

Gen. 27:41 ¶ So Esau bore a grudge against Jacob because of the blessing with which his father had blessed him; and Esau said to himself, “The days of mourning for my father are near; then I will kill my brother Jacob.”

Prov. 15:18 A hot-tempered man stirs up strife,
            But the slow to anger calms a dispute.

James 1:21 Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.

James 1:22 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.

Unless the Word is acted upon, the hearing becomes worthless. Practise, practise, practise.

James 1:25 But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, [free from the slavery of sin] and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.

John 3:34 “For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for He gives the Spirit without measure.

James 1:27 Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.

Eph. 4:7 ¶ But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.

Titus 3:5 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,
Titus 3:6 whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
Titus 3:7 so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
