The New Age

In a dramatic blast of power and noise, which filled the house, fire suddenly enveloped the Apostles on that eventful Pentecost almost two thousand years ago. The Age of Passover ended and the Age of Pentecost began with God pouring His Holy Spirit first on the beloved Apostles and then made available to all who believed and obeyed the Way. God transformed everything old into a New Age, where believers died and were buried to sin and were resurrected as Spirit filled beings a giant step above other humans.

Acts 2:1 When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.
Acts 2:2 And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
Acts 2:3 And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them.
Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance.

Yes, God created from the flesh of people a New Creation made in His image. People would never be the same after that Pentecost. While appearing like normal human beings, they were in fact changed from the inside. It is as though God planted a seed, the Holy Spirit inside the heart of believers, which after death or Jesus' return, would sprout into the whole person changed into a spirit being, flesh no longer. As the power and love of the Spirit permeates the minds of believers, they become more and more like Jesus.

Eph. 1:13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,
Eph. 1:14 who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory. and more like Jesus and Our Father in Heaven.

1Cor. 15:42 ¶ So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body;
1Cor. 15:43 it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power;
1Cor. 15:44 it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.

New Covenant

God morphed the Old Covenant into the New Covenant. While the Old Covenant had nothing wrong with it, God found fault with the people, whom God had not yet changed. So with the New Creation God created the New Covenant. God wrote this covenant by the power of the Spirit on the hearts of believers, not on a piece of stone. God sanctified the covenant, not by the blood of some animal, but by His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. All things are being made new.

Heb. 8:8 For finding fault with them, He says, "Behold, days are coming, says the Lord, when I will effect a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah."
Heb. 10:16-17 “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days," says the Lord, "I will put my laws upon thie heart, and on their mind I will write them," He then says, "And thier sins and thiir lawless deeds I will remember no more."

Luke 22:20 And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood."

Born Again

A person enters the New Age by being born again. How is that possible to be born again? We do not become an incredible shrinking person until we are small enough to re-enter the womb. Being born again, obviously, has to do with being baptized and receiving the ability to use the Holy Spirit given to us by Our Father in Heaven. When a person is totally submerged in Baptism, he is buried like Jesus and is resurrected to life like Jesus as he emerges from the water. Upon obtaining the Holy Spirit and the ability to use it, a person is reborn.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
John 3:7 Do not be amazed that I said to you, "You must be born again."
John 3:8 "The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit."

1Pet. 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Rom. 6:4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.

Baptism destroys, that is, buries, the old person that is so susceptible to sinning. When a person truly accepts the fact that sin and Satan no longer enslaves him, he is free to be the New Creation made in righteousness through Jesus. Until the final resurrection our inner being has been changed to the likeness of Jesus. The reborn person can walk as an entirely new being. Upon the full realization of a Person's change, he will think, act and talk like a Child of Our Father in Heaven.

Rebirth by the Spirit

Our Father in Heaven uses the Holy Spirit to recreate His new Sons and Daughters. By the power of the inborn Spirit a person is invested with new strength and energy, even more so in the coming Kingdom of God. But enough now is given to accomplish much for Our Father in Heaven's glory. The Spirit guides the Believers in the Way most pleasing to Our Father in Heaven. As believers learn to use the power of the Spirit, they will grow rapidly as New Creatures.

Is. 40:29 He gives strength to the weary,
And to him who lacks might He increases power.
Is. 40:30 Though youths grow weary and tired,
And vigorous young men stumble badly,
Is. 40:31 Yet those who wait for the LORD
Will gain new strength;
They will mount up with wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary.

They will learn to walk by the Spirit and set their minds on heavenly things. Instead of living in abusive speech and anger, they will put on compassion and forgiveness. Ultimately, they will learn to live by love, which is the greatest gift the spiritual rebirth bequeaths. No longer will tit be given for tat, rather love for hatred and kind words for nastiness. As time passes and the Spirit is given freer reign, the Beloved of God will glow in the rebirth by the Spirit.

Col. 3:2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.
Col. 3:5 ¶ Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.
Col. 3:6 For it is because of these things that the wrath of God will come upon the sons of disobedience,
Col. 3:7 and in them you also once walked, when you were living in them.
Col. 3:8 But now you also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth.
Col. 3:9 Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices,
Col. 3:10 and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him.
Col. 3:12 ¶ So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience;
Col. 3:13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.
Col. 3:14 Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.

New Righteousness

Our righteousness does not interest God at all. God sees us through the eyes of His Son. Our determined effort each day to walk in our Lord's way as he demonstrated by his life reported in the Gospels clothes us in the new righteousness. So when we put on Jesus' righteousness through faith, we have the new righteousness. Then we can say as Jesus did, not our will but Our Father in Heaven's will be done on earth.

Phil. 3:9 and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith.

Here is the way Strong's defines faith:

4102. pistis, pis«-tis; from 3982; persuasion, i.e. credence; moral conviction (of religious truth, or the truthfulness of God or a religious teacher), especially reliance upon Christ for salvation; abstractly, constancy in such profession; by extension, the system of religious (Gospel) truth itself: assurance, belief, believe, faith, fidelity.

Renewing Mind

But, our minds are filled with the old ways of sin, sickness and death. The world we live in is mostly devoid of Godly influence, and we must fight to maintain our proper thinking. Therefore, we renew our thinking by giving our brains spiritual food gleaned from the Bible, God's Word. Every time we put into practice what God teaches us in His revelation to us, our minds are renewed and strengthened in the right Way. Time and effort finally bring about an attitude that pleases God. The renewal by God's Word ultimately completes the ways of death buried in Baptism, and we live to life and life more abundantly in the New Age.

Rom. 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

Eph. 4:23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,

2Cor. 4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.

Put on the New Self and New Nature

We control our lives; thus, we must consciously put on the new self. God never imposes His Way on anyone, anytime. He will encourage, discipline, but never take over a person because if God cannot inspire him toward goodness, making him an automaton gains nothing for God or the person. Satan cannot gain followers on merit, so it must use powerful controls including possession to make myrmidons. So our Bible study inculcates by the renewing of the Spirit our new self and new nature.

Eph. 4:24 and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

Col. 3:10 and have put on the new nature, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.

2Cor. 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

We put on the New Nature by learning from God what the new nature is. Then we apply what God says:

Eph. 4:24 and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.
Eph. 4:25 ¶ Therefore, laying aside falsehood, SPEAK TRUTH EACH ONE of you WITH HIS NEIGHBOR, for we are members of one another.
Eph. 4:26 BE ANGRY, AND yet DO NOT SIN; do not let the sun go down on your anger,
Eph. 4:27 and do not give the devil an opportunity.
Eph. 4:28 He who steals must steal no longer; but rather he must labor, performing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with one who has need.
Eph. 4:29 Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.
Eph. 4:30 Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Eph. 4:31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.
Eph. 4:32 Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.
Eph. 5:1 ¶ Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children;
Eph. 5:2 and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.
Eph. 5:3 ¶ But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints;
Eph. 5:4 and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.
Eph. 5:5 For this you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

What The New Creation Believers Become

Besides learning how to walk by the Way, the New Creation from God can perform a variety of spiritual works. You see receiving the Spirit is not receiving a painting or some work of art to be looked at but not used. The Spiritual gifts God gives believers are active and powerful; they can do great good for God's glory. These gifts are given to be used as we wish, all or a few. The power comes from God, but we turn the ignition key to use the power, and until we decide to use God's power, it lays dormant and useless within.

1Cor. 12:4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit.
1Cor. 12:5 And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord.
1Cor. 12:6 There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons.
1Cor. 12:7 But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.
1Cor. 12:8 For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit;
1Cor. 12:9 to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit,
1Cor. 12:10 and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues.
1Cor. 12:11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.

The New Love Overwhelms Believers

As powerful as love is in normal human relation, it is far more potent driven by the power of the Spirit. This love is the dynamo that created the universe, formed people from the clay of the earth, gave us the Ten Commandments of life, and brought Jesus back from the dead. In fact, Jesus died because of the might of the Spirit of love. Now this love is poured out on all flesh, to all that is, who want the love. People recreated in God's love have a power beyond one could imagine, a power for good.

Rom. 5:5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Eph. 3:20 Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think,

As great as the gifts of the Spirit are, they are nothing compared to the gift of love. Godly love represents the very best a person can be. Godly love promotes life and life more abundantly. Godly love gives the giver of love a gift of eternal life.

1Cor. 13:1 ¶ If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
1Cor. 13:2 And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
1Cor. 13:3 If I give away all I have, and if I deliver my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.
1Cor. 13:4 ¶ Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful;
1Cor. 13:5 it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;
1Cor. 13:6 it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right.
1Cor. 13:7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
1Cor. 13:8 ¶ Love never ends; as for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.
1Cor. 13:9 For our knowledge is imperfect and our prophecy is imperfect;
1Cor. 13:10 but when the perfect comes, the imperfect will pass away.
1Cor. 13:11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became a man, I gave up childish ways.
1Cor. 13:12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall understand fully, even as I have been fully understood.
1Cor. 13:13 So faith, hope, love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

In this New Age we live in, as a New Creatures, we live a life to God through Christ. As New People, God freed us through Jesus from sin, sickness and death (which the Bible calls sleep). As New People God gave us the power and will to be a great source of love to all we encounter.
