The Bread of Affliction

Deut. 16:3 “You shall not eat leavened bread with it; seven days you shall eat with it unleavened bread, the bread of affliction (for you came out of the land of Egypt in haste), so that you may remember all the days of your life the day when you came out of the land of Egypt.

Gen. 15:13 God said to Abram, “Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, where they will be enslaved and oppressed four hundred years.

Psa. 105:16 ¶ And He called for a famine upon the land;
He broke the whole staff of bread.
Psa. 105:17 He sent a man before them,
Joseph, who was sold as a slave.
Psa. 105:18 They afflicted his feet with fetters,
He himself was laid in irons;
Psa. 105:19 Until the time that his word came to pass,
The word of the LORD tested him.

Thus Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.

Ex. 1:11 So they appointed taskmasters over them to afflict them with hard labor. And they built for Pharaoh storage cities, Pithom and Raamses.

Ex. 12:40 ¶ Now the time that the sons of Israel lived in Egypt was four hundred and thirty years.
Ex. 12:41 And at the end of four hundred and thirty years, to the very day, all the hosts of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt.

Acts 7:6 “But God spoke to this effect, that his DESCENDANTS WOULD BE ALIENS IN A FOREIGN LAND, AND THAT THEY WOULD BE ENSLAVED AND MISTREATED FOR FOUR HUNDRED YEARS.

Ex. 12:39 They baked the dough which they had brought out of Egypt into cakes of unleavened bread. For it had not become leavened, since they were driven out of Egypt and could not delay, nor had they prepared any provisions for themselves.
