God Is One

Through out the ages, the only people that believed that God is One Person were the Jews and later the Christians. Every other religion was polytheistic that believed demons were gods, various things like the sun or ge (the earth) were gods and their kings were demigods who would become part of the pantheon of gods in the heavens. Such prominent rulers include Pharaoh, Nebuchednezer, and Constantine with whom we must pick up the history. At the council of Nicenae, three groups vied for their doctrine concerning the person or persons of God. The Aryans believed God was One Person, others believe in duality, i.e., God was two people in one, and Trinitarians believed God was three in one. Even though the sponsor of the Council, Constantine, believed in dual gods in one, the Trinitarians won the day and the Aryans ran for their lives, and Protestant and Catholics have persecuted them, one way or another, ever since.

Not withstanding the almost two hundred some odd scriptures attesting to God’s singleness, almost all Protestants and Catholics believe in duality or trinity rooted in the Council of Nicenae. While a priore reasoning can prove anything in the Bible, the thrust of the scriptures, except for a few confusing ones, demand a belief in the One God.

Deu 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. (NIV) Or, Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: (KJV)

One: Strongs: ekh-awd'; a numeral from 258; prop. united, i. e. one; or (as an ordinal) first: - a, alike, alone, altogether, and, any (-thing), apiece, a cer-tain, [dai-] ly, each (one), / eleven, every, few, first, / highway, a man, once, one, only, other, some, together. And the Greek: hice; (includ. the neut. [etc.] 1733, a) prim. numeral; one: - a (-n, -ny, certain), / abundantly, man, one (another), only, other, some. See also 1527, 3367, 3391, 3762.

Furthermore, Deu 6:4 uses both the words “Lord” and “God.” Lord means the Eternal One, the I Am, and is truly singular. God means the Supreme Being. So, when Deut 6:4 says the “Lord our God,” it combines both Hebrew names for God and says, by either or both names, He is One. Some say that God, Elohim, is plural therefore God is more than one person, but only Elohim can be translated as the Supreme Being, El (singular) cannot. When speaking of God, Elohim is the Supreme Being, but when the context is many gods, Elohim is plural. Just as the queen says, “We are pleased,” she suddenly does not become two or three queens. It is a question of grammar and style.

Mar 12:28 One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”
Mar 12:29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.’”

Jesus quotes from Deut 6:4, the foundation verse in the Bible defining God.

The New Testament says there is no one else but God. God alone is God. He alone, therefore, since there is no one else but Him, created the heavens and the earth. However, do not let the first and third verses in the Bible fool you: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth…And God said let there be light.” Trinitarians and dualist insist that God did not command the universe into existence, the Word-Being did. Regardless of Mark 12:32 that says, “[T]here is no one else,” Christian polytheists assert the Word-Being actually said the words the Bible quotes God as saying.

As an aside: the term the Word-Being I use is derived from people saying, from John, the Word was God, thereby making words into a being. I use the term, relating to this misconception of making a group of sounds with meaning, a word, into a being or part of the duality or Trinity, the Word-Being.

There is no way around the Biblical fact that God is the One Supreme Being that created the heavens and the earth without any help or assistance of any one else, “no other but him.” It does not say no other God, but “no other.” “No other” means no one else. In other places, it says no other God, but here it says “no other,” i.e., no other individual. You will find in this article irrefutable proof of God being the one Person, who created the heavens and the earth. While I have answered the main challenges to the Truth of One God and Father, nothing can take the place of the overwhelming number of scriptures defining God as One Being.

Mar 12:32 “Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him.

God Is One

Here are a large number of scriptures talking about God being One Person.

The following verses insist that there is only One God. In verse 10, Isaiah says that there was no god before “me,” me being singular. The Hebrew for god is el, not Elohim (the Supreme Being). El means god, i.e., some one or something created. Further, God makes it clear that no one was created before God and no one will be created later on after the six days of creation.

Isa 43:10 “You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me.

Gen. 2:2 By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.

Gen. 2:7 Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

Furthermore, God begot Jesus, not created him. Jesus is a result of the original creation and the forming of Adam. Again, God makes it clear that He is God alone. He, further, says He is from eternity. No one else is from eternity.

Is. 43:11 “I, even I, am the LORD,
And there is no savior besides Me.
Is. 43:12 “It is I who have declared and saved and proclaimed,
And there was no strange god among you;
So you are My witnesses,” declares the LORD,
“And I am God.
Is. 43:13 “Even from eternity I am He,
And there is none who can deliver out of My hand;
I act and who can reverse it?”

Continually, God’s Word insists there is no one else except God.

1Sa 2:2 “There is no one holy [ Or no Holy One ] like the LORD; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.

Jesus repeats what the Old Testament says that God alone is good. If Jesus were God, the son, would he not be good also. However, Jesus says no, he is not good, only God alone.

Mar 10:18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good--except God alone.

Paul tells us the same thing in somewhat different wording that there is only one God. Additionally, Paul makes it clear that the One God is God of all humans, not just Israel.

Rom 3:29 Is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too,
Rom 3:30 since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith.

1Co 8:4 So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that an idol is nothing at all in the world and that there is no God but one.

Clearly, referring to Jesus as the mediator, Paul says that the mediator represents us to the one God.

Gal 3:20 A mediator, however, does not represent just one party; but God is one.
Eph 4:4 There is one body and one Spirit-- just as you were called to one hope when you were called--
Eph 4:5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism;

The following verses probably say it most succinctly. There is One God and Father. Here the true concept says that the only God is the Father. The Father is the single God, thus, equating God with the Father.

Eph 4:6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

Of course, God is over all and through all and is in all. He is. His name is Yahweh, the I Am and Eternal One. Paul also explains that all things came from God, the Father. However, the next part says that all things came through Jesus. The Greek for through is dia, which means, “(gen.) through, by means of; (acc.) because of, for the sake of, therefore.” Since we under-stand God created everything for his Son, a better translation for dia is “for the sake of.” What are all things? The things pertaining to salvation.

1Co 8:6 yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.

For the believers in duality, here is the penultimate verse that Jesus is the man, not a god or a god-son, much less a reincarnated Word-Being. Now, what does it mean that all things came through Jesus? Well, the word “things” does not exist in the Greek, just the Greek for “all.” In other words,

all that allows us to live came through Jesus, his death and resurrection. We cannot take all the verses showing God alone created the heavens and the earth to twist “through whom all things came” to mean God used a pre-existing Jesus, the Word-Being, to create, which the verse does not say, the heavens and the earth. If Jesus were a Word-Being before he existed, God must say: I created the heavens and the earth by using the Word-Being as my Spokesman, my speaker. If He were to say that, how could all the scriptures saying He alone created the heavens and the earth in the beginning and commanded all the various aspects of the creation into prescribed events? You cannot have it both ways.

Besides, since there is one God, Jesus had to be the man.

1Ti 2:5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

Jam 2:19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that-- and shudder.
Rev 11:17 saying: “We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, the One who is and who was, because you have taken your great power and have begun to reign.

The Holy One (of Israel)

God tells Israel to be holy because He is. First of all God’s being the Holy One relates to being Israel’s creator, and if Israel’s Creator, so too ours. Also, importantly the Creator is the One, not two or three, who is Holy. He did not use a spokesman or a Word-Being to create Israel or anything else.

Isa 43:15 I am the LORD, your Holy One, Israel’s Creator, your King.”
Isa 54:5 For your Maker is your husband-- the LORD Almighty is his name-- the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.
Isa 17:7 In that day men will look to their Maker and turn their eyes to the Holy One of Israel.
Isa 54:5 For your Maker is your husband-- the LORD Almighty is his name-- the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.

Hebrews says absolutely that God spoke through the prophets in the old days. No verse says God spoke through a Word-Being in the past. However, after Jesus was born, God then spoke by his Son. Note, that the dia, “for the sake of” is translated “through” because people believe, a priore, Jesus is part of the Trinity that existed from the beginning.

God created everything by Himself, alone (repeated in the section below). He did not need or use a Spokesperson to do it. To be perfectly redundant, God created the heavens and earth Himself, alone.

Isa 44:24 “This is what the LORD says-- your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: I am the LORD, who has made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by myself,
Job 9:8 He alone stretches out the heavens and treads on the waves of the sea.
Job 26:7 “He stretches out the north over empty space
And hangs the earth on nothing.

The following verses talk about some of the attributes and activities of the Holy One and believers relationship with Him.

Isa 48:17 This is what the LORD says-- your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.
1Sa 2:2 “There is no one holy like the LORD; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.
Psa 71:22 I will praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, O my God; I will sing praise to you with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel.
Isa 5:19 to those who say, “Let God hurry, let him hasten his work so we may see it. Let it approach, let the plan of the Holy One of Israel come, so we may know it.”
Isa 29:23 When they see among them their children, the work of my hands, they will keep my name holy; they will acknowledge the holiness of the Holy One of Jacob, and will stand in awe of the God of Israel.
Isa 43:3 For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead.
Isa 48:17 This is what the LORD says-- your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.
Hos 11:9 I will not carry out my fierce anger, nor will I turn and devastate Ephraim. For I am God, and not man-- the Holy One among you. I will not come in wrath. [Or come against any city].
Hab 3:3 God came from Teman, the Holy One from Mount Paran. Selah [ A word of uncertain meaning; possibly a musical term; also in verses 9 and 13] His glory covered the heavens and his praise filled the earth.

Clearly, all the scriptures extolling the Holy One give great emphasis of the Truth that the only Eternal Being is God, Our Father in Heaven.

Prov. 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

God, in fact, has no equal in the spirit or physical world. No angel or any of Satan’s hordes can approach the power and majesty of the Almighty God. Furthermore, God being Almighty, He needs no help in creating or ruling the heavens and the earth.

Is. 40:25 “To whom then will you liken Me
That I would be his equal?” says the Holy One.

Hab. 1:12 ¶ Are You not from everlasting, O LORD, my God, my Holy One?
We will not die. You, O LORD, have appointed them to judge; And You, O Rock, have established them to correct.
2Kings 19:22 ‘Whom have you reproached and blasphemed? And against whom have you raised your voice, And haughtily lifted up your eyes? Against the Holy One of Israel!
Psa. 71:22 I will also praise You with a harp, Even Your truth, O my God; To You I will sing praises with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel.
Psa. 78:41 Again and again they tested God’s patience and frustrated the Holy One of Israel.
Psa. 89:18 For our shield belongs to the LORD, our king to the Holy One of Israel.
Is. 1:4 ¶ Ah, sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, offspring of evildoers, sons who deal corruptly! They have forsaken the LORD, they have despised the Holy One of Israel, they are utterly estranged.
Is. 5:19 They even mock the Holy One of Israel and say, “Hurry up and do something! Quick, show us what you can do. We want to see what you have planned.”

God, the Almighty gave us the Law on the mount, and the Holy One also gave us His Word. Obviously, Almighty God and the Holy are different terms or names of the Eternal God in Heaven. To reiterate, the Almighty or the Holy One gave us His Word, no one else because the Holy One is One.

Is. 5:24 ¶ Therefore, as the tongue of fire devours the stubble, and as dry grass sinks down in the flame, so their root will be as rottenness, and their blossom go up like dust; for they have rejected the law of the LORD of hosts, and have despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

Isa 10:20 In that day the remnant of Israel, the survivors of the house of Jacob, will no longer rely on him who struck them down but will truly rely on the LORD, the Holy One of Israel.
Isa 12:6 Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you.”
Isa 29:19 Once more the humble will rejoice in the LORD; the needy will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.
Isa 30:11 Leave this way, get off this path, and stop confronting us with the Holy One of Israel!”
Isa 30:12 Therefore, this is what the Holy One of Israel says: “Because you have rejected this message, relied on oppression and depended on deceit,
Isa 30:15 This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.
Isa 31:1 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses, who trust in the multitude of their chariots and in the great strength of their horsemen, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel, or seek help from the LORD.
Isa 37:23 Who is it you have insulted and blasphemed? Against whom have you raised your voice and lifted your eyes in pride? Against the Holy One of Israel!
Isa 41:14 Do not be afraid, O worm Jacob, O little Israel, for I myself will help you,” declares the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
Isa 41:16 You will winnow them, the wind will pick them up, and a gale will blow them away. But you will rejoice in the LORD and glory in the Holy One of Israel.
Isa 41:20 so that people may see and know, may consider and understand, that the hand of the LORD has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.
Isa 43:3 For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush [That is, the upper Nile region] and Seba in your stead.
Isa 43:14 This is what the LORD says-- your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “For your sake I will send to Babylon and bring down as fugitives all the Babylonians, [Or Chaldeans] in the ships in which they took pride.

The Holy One of Israel is the Creator who created the heavens and the Earth by His hands. The Hebrew word for hand is yad, part of the root system of sounds that includes Yahweh. He made the heavens and the earth by His (singular) hands, not through anyone else’s. We also know that God created the heavens and the earth by His (singular pronoun) command, not through anyone else.

Is. 45:11 ¶ This is what the LORD, the Creator and Holy One of Israel, says: “Do you question what I do? Do you give me orders about the work of my hands?” NLT

Isa 47:4 Our Redeemer-- the LORD Almighty is his name-- is the Holy One of Israel.

Isa 48:17 This is what the LORD says-- your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.
Isa 49:7 This is what the LORD says-- the Redeemer and Holy One of Israel-- to him who was despised and abhorred by the nation, to the servant of rulers: “Kings will see you and rise up, princes will see and bow down, because of the LORD, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”
Isa 55:5 Surely you will summon nations you know not, and nations that do not know you will hasten to you, because of the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendor.”
Isa 60:9 Surely the islands look to me; in the lead are the ships of Tarshish, [Or the trading ships] bringing your sons from afar, with their silver and gold, to the honor of the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendor.
Isa 60:14 The sons of your oppressors will come bowing before you; all who despise you will bow down at your feet and will call you the City of the LORD, Zion of the Holy One of Israel.
Jer 50:29 “Summon archers against Babylon, all those who draw the bow. En-camp all around her; let no one escape. Repay her for her deeds; do to her as she has done. For she has defied the LORD, the Holy One of Israel.
Jer 51:5 For Israel and Judah have not been forsaken by their God, the LORD Almighty, though their land [Or/ and the land of the Babylonians] is full of guilt before the Holy One of Israel.

God Alone

Jesus repeated what God told Moses who wrote it down in Deut 6. God is One Lord, or Being. Those who want God to be two or three in one cannot ever prove that when they comprehend 2Kings 19:19. Further, those who claim God created all through Jesus must not have seen the scriptures that say God alone stretched out the heavens or made the heavens and earth. God alone created the heavens and the earth by commanding them into existence, “Let there be light.

The following three verses state unequivocally that God alone, without using or going through a Word-Being, created the heavens and the earth.

2Kings 19:19 “Now, O LORD our God, I pray, deliver us from his hand that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You alone, O LORD, are God.”
Isa 44:24 “This is what the LORD says-- your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: I am the LORD, who has made all things, who alone stretched out the
heavens, who spread out the earth by myself,
Job 9:8 He alone stretches out the heavens and treads on the waves of the sea.
Isa 37:16 “O LORD Almighty, God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth.

1Ki 8:39 then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Forgive and act; deal with each man according to all he does, since you know his heart (for you alone know the hearts of all men),

When God said, “Let there be light,” He alone said it because He alone is God. Again, God alone said, "Let there be light," because He alone is God. Note the following verses.

2Ki 19:19 Now, O LORD our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all kingdoms on earth may know that you alone, O LORD, are God.”
Psa 86:10 For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God.
Psa 72:18 Praise be to the LORD God, the God of Israel, who alone does marvellous deeds.
Isa 37:20 Now, O LORD our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all kingdoms on earth may know that you alone, O LORD, are God. [Dead Sea Scrolls (see also 2 Kings 19:19); Masoretic Text alone are the LORD]”
2Ki 19:15 And Hezekiah prayed to the LORD: “O LORD, God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth.

Psa 83:18 Let them know that you, whose name is the LORD-- that you alone are the Most High over all the earth.

Paul explains that God gives life to everything, and he does not even hint that God used or needed any help to do so.

1Ti 6:13 In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you
1Ti 6:14 to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,
1Ti 6:15 which God will bring about in his own time-- God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords,

As said elsewhere, only God is immortal, not the Word-Being or any other appellation for some pre-existent Jesus before he came into existence, i.e., was begotten.

1Ti 6:16 who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen.

Using the singular pronoun (you, not “yous”) for God, the Psalmist notes that the Creator made them all in wisdom.

Psa. 104:24 ¶ O LORD, how many are Your works!
In wisdom You have made them all;
The earth is full of Your possessions.

No Other God or Person

Not only are there no other gods, there, again, is no one else: “no other.” Repeated in the following verses:

Isa 45:5 I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me,
Isa 45:6 so that from the rising of the sun to the place of its setting men may know there is none besides me. I am the LORD, and there is no other.
Isa 45:18 For this is what the LORD says-- he who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited-- he says: “I am the LORD, and there is no other.
Deu 4:35 You were shown these things so that you might know that the LORD is God; besides him there is no other.
Deu 4:35 You were shown these things so that you might know that the LORD is God; besides him (1) there is no other.
Joe 2:27 Then you will know that I am in Israel, that I am the LORD your God, and that there is no other; never again will my people be shamed.
Deu 4:39 Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other.
Deu 4:35 You were shown these things so that you might know that the LORD is God; besides him there is no other.
1Ki 8:60 so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the LORD is God and that there is no other.
Deu 32:39 “See now that I myself am He! There is no god besides me. I put to death and I bring to life, I have wounded and I will heal, and no one can deliver out of my hand.
Isa 45:5 I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me,

Isa 45:14 This is what the LORD says: “The products of Egypt and the merchandise of Cush, [ That is, the upper Nile region ] and those tall Sabeans-- they will come over to you and will be yours; they will trudge behind you, coming over to you in chains. They will bow down before you and plead with you, saying, ‘Surely God is with you, and there is no other; there is no other god.’“
Isa 45:22 “Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.

If a Word-Being spoke the words that created the heavens and the earth, then the Word-Being would be like God, a creator. However, God said no one is like Him.

Isa 46:9 Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.
Joe 2:27 Then you will know that I am in Israel, that I am the LORD your God, and that there is no other; never again will my people be shamed.
Isa 45:6 so that from the rising of the sun to the place of its setting men may know there is none besides me. I am the LORD, and there is no other.

Using the singular pronoun, I, in the next verse leaves no room for an assistant or a Spokesman in the creation.

Isa 45:7 I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the LORD, do all these things.

The I Am

Isa 51:15 For I am the LORD your God, who churns up the sea so that its waves roar-- the LORD Almighty is his name.
Eze 20:20 Keep my Sabbaths holy, that they may be a sign between us. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God.”

Unfortunately, few Sabbath keepers are willing to accept God as One Person. Why is that?

Isa 44:6 “This is what the LORD says-- Israel’s King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God.
Rev 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

The next verse also uses a singular pronoun, He, for God. It does not say we. The word for God is the Elohim of Genesis.

1Ki 18:39 When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, “The LORD-- he is God! The LORD-- he is God!”
Jer 10:10 But the LORD is the true God; he is the living God, the eternal King. When he is angry, the earth trembles; the nations cannot endure his wrath.

The only confusing scripture for ‘I am’ is where Jesus says, before Abraham was I am. This is a bit of a study in itself, but, basically, Jesus was in the logos, the thoughts of God, from the beginning. This thought was expressed in the beginning because the ‘in the beginning was the word.’ Furthermore, the Greek for I am has nothing to do with Yahweh, the Eternal One, the I am. The Greek for I am is eimi, which means I am he. Therefore, you cannot equate eimi with Yahweh, which the Greek translates as Theos.

Notice the definition of logos: log'-os; from 3004; something said (including the thought); by impl. a topic (subject of discourse), also reasoning (the mental faculty) or motive. Refer to the article Logos.

Jeremiah notes that God created the heavens and the earth by His power. Note also the singular you again.

Jer. 32:17 ‘Ah Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for You,

The Eternal One

We know Yahweh means the Eternal One the I Am. The following scriptures determinedly show that God is One person who created the world by Himself.

Is.57:15 For this is what the high and lofty One says-- he who lives forever, whose name is holy: “I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.

Is.63:16 But you are our Father, though Abraham does not know us or Israel acknowledge us; you, O LORD, are our Father, our Redeemer from of old is your name.

Je.10:10 But the LORD is the true God; he is the living God, the eternal King. When he is angry, the earth trembles; the nations cannot endure his wrath.

Deut 32:39 See now that I myself am He! There is no god besides me. I put to death and I bring to life, I have wounded and I will heal, and no one can deliver out of my hand.
32:40 I lift my hand to heaven and declare: As surely as I live forever,

De.33:27 The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemy before you, saying, 'Destroy him!'

Re.1:8 I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty."

Re.4:8 Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under his wings. Day and night they never stop saying: "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come."

Re.10:6 And he swore by him who lives for ever and ever, who created the heavens and all that is in them, the earth and all that is in it, and the sea and all that is in it, and said, "There will be no more delay!

Re.11:17 : "We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, the One who is and who was, because you have taken your great power and have begun to reign.

Re.15:7 Then one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls filled with the wrath of God, who lives forever and ever.

Re. 21:5 He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."
Re. 21:6 He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life.

The Living God

The one and only True God is also the one and only living God.

Je.23:36 But you must not mention 'the oracle of the LORD' again, be-cause every man’s own word becomes his oracle and so you distort the words of the living God, the LORD Almighty, our God.

Da.6:20 When he came near the den, he called to Daniel in an anguished voice, "Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to rescue you from the lions?"

Da.6:26 I issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel. "For he is the living God and he endures forever; his kingdom will not be destroyed, his dominion will never end.

Jesus is not the living God, but the Son of the living God.

Jn.6:57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.

The living God is the living Father by whom Jesus lives. If Jesus were God, how is it he needs God to live, who gives life to all?

Ac.14:15 Men, why are you doing this? We too are only men, human like you. We are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made heaven and earth and sea and everything in them.

The one and only living God is the Creator. Do we need any other scriptures?

The Only Creator

Additional scriptures attest to the fact that God created the heavens and the earth himself, alone. The genesis account uses Elohim correctly translated as the Supreme Being as the name for God who created the heavens and the earth. Additionally, Genesis says the Supreme Being called the heavens and the earth into existence by His command.

Gen. 1:1 ¶ In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Gen. 1:2 The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.
Gen. 1:3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
Gen. 1:6 ¶ Then God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.”
Gen. 1:9 ¶ Then God said, “Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so.

Gen. 1:11 Then God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation: plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit after their kind with seed in them”; and it was so.

Gen. 1:14 ¶ Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years;

Gen. 1:20 ¶ Then God said, “Let the waters teem with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the heavens.”

Gen. 1:24 ¶ Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind: cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth after their kind”; and it was so.

Gen. 1:26 ¶ Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
Gen. 1:27 God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Gen. 2:7 Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

These verses say the One God created the universe. Note: the us in Gen 1:26 is a noun verb agreement based on the plural form of Elohim, the Supreme Being, not two people or more people creating Adam.

Is. 40:26 Lift up your eyes on high
And see who has created these stars,
The One who leads forth their host by number,
He calls them all by name;
Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power,
Not one of them is missing.

Is. 41:20 That they may see and recognize,
And consider and gain insight as well,
That the hand of the LORD has done this,
And the Holy One of Israel has created it.

Mal. 2:10 ¶ “Do we not all have one father? Has not one God created us? Why do we deal treacherously each against his brother so as to profane the covenant of our fathers?

Col. 3:10 and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him—

The following verse uses both names of God, Elohim and Yahweh, to-get her as the creator in order to leave no doubt that by either or both names of God, He alone created the heavens and the earth.

Gen. 2:4 ¶ This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made earth and heaven.

David is essentially repeating what Genesis says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. However, the psalmist emphasizes how Yahweh alone created the heavens and the earth, by the breath of His mouth.

These powerful verses must demolish the deceptions of a Trinity, a Word-Being, or God needing or using anyone or anything else to help Him create anything. Why would anyone want to diminish God's power as the One Creator and Supreme Being, Elohim? Only one would want to deceive people into believing God less is than the Supreme Being. That one would be Satan.

Psa. 33:6 By the word of the LORD the heavens were made,
And by the breath of
His mouth all their host.
Psa. 33:7 He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap;
He lays up the deeps in storehouses.
Psa. 33:8 Let all the earth fear the LORD;
Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.
Psa. 33:9 For He spoke, and it was done;
He commanded, and it stood fast.

Psa. 33:6 The LORD merely spoke,
and the heavens were created.
He breathed the word,
and all the stars were born.
Psa. 33:7 He gave the sea its boundaries
and locked the oceans in vast reservoirs.
Psa. 33:8 Let everyone in the world fear the LORD,
and let everyone stand in awe of him.
Psa. 33:9 For when he spoke, the world began!
It appeared at his command.
NLT

There is no one else who created or helped in the creation of the heavens and the Earth, just the Creator Himself.

Is. 45:18 ¶ For thus says the LORD, who created the heavens (He is the God who formed the earth and made it, He established it and did not create it a waste place, but formed it to be inhabited),
“I am the LORD, and there is none else.

Peter repeats what the Palmist said about God creating the heavens and the earth by His command; as, “And God said, ‘Let there be light.’”

2Pet. 3:5 For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water,
2Pet. 3:6 through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water.
2Pet. 3:7 But
by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

The writer of Hebrews also explains that God’s command, word, created the heavens and the earth.

Heb. 11:3 ¶ By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.

Paul notes that God and the Creator is the same Person.

Rom. 1:25 For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

Acts says “The God.” It does not say God needed a Word-Being to create the heaves and the earth. How could He? Further, Acts notes that He (singular) is the Lord. The use of “since” relates back to “The God.” This verse agrees with Gen 2:4 above.

Acts 17:24 “The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands;

The next verses remind us of the verse above about God creating the heavens and the earth by His (singular) hand. The Hebrew for hand has the same root sound as Yahweh, as we all know.

Acts 7:49 ‘HEAVEN IS MY THRONE,
AND EARTH IS THE FOOTSTOOL OF MY FEET;
WHAT KIND OF HOUSE WILL YOU BUILD FOR ME?’ says the Lord,
‘OR WHAT PLACE IS THERE FOR MY REPOSE?
Acts 7:50 ‘WAS IT NOT MY HAND WHICH MADE ALL THESE THINGS?’
Is. 66:2 “For My hand made all these things,
Thus all these things came into being,” declares the LORD.
“But to this one I will look,
To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.

It seems necessary to keep pointing out that God alone created the heavens and the earth. Isaiah again shows that the Holy One, Himself alone, created the stars “because of the greatness of His (singular) might.” No other verse in the Bible says that anyone else created anything.

A few verses suggest that God created some things through Jesus. It does not mean God shouted into Jesus’ ear, and he repeated what he heard. The songwriter composed the melody and lyrics for a particular vocalist, like Elvis. What he actually did was compose it through the vocalist in the sense that he composed it for this particular person’s voice and personality. God created the heavens and the earth through Jesus, i.e., for his character and personality. He made the heavens and the earth through Jesus’ future existence who would enable His plan of salvation. Without Jesus, all the creation would have been a waste because he provided salvation. Furthermore, God created the heavens and the earth for His future Son, because the Good Father wanted to give this to His only begotten Son.

Is. 40:25 “To whom then will you liken Me
That I would be his equal?” says the Holy One.
Is. 40:26 Lift up your eyes on high
And see who has created these stars,
The One who leads forth their host by number,
He calls them all by name;
Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, Not one of them is missing.

The singular is quite pronounced in these verses about God’s creating the heavens and the earth.

Is. 48:12 “Listen to Me, O Jacob, even Israel whom I called;
I am He, I am the first, I am also the last.
Is. 48:13 “Surely My hand founded the earth,
And My right hand spread out the heavens;
When I call to them, they stand together.
Acts 4:24 And when they heard this, they lifted their voices to God with one accord and said, “O Lord, it is You who MADE THE HEAVEN AND THE EARTH AND THE SEA, AND ALL THAT IS IN THEM,

God’s hands alone created the heavens and the Earth. Note the “I ordained,” which, obviously means One Person, for an I cannot be but one.

Is. 45:11 ¶ Thus says the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker:
“Ask Me about the things to come concerning My sons,
And you shall commit to Me the work of My hands.
Is. 45:12 “It is I who made the earth, and created man upon it.
I stretched out the heavens with My hands
And I ordained all their host.

He, God, made it all for Jesus and through him, us.

Psa. 102:25 “Of old You founded the earth,
And the heavens are the work of Your hands.
Psa. 95:3 For the LORD is a great God
And a great King above all gods,
Psa. 95:4 In whose hand are the depths of the earth,
The peaks of the mountains are His also.
Psa. 95:5 The sea is His, for it was He who made it,
And His hands formed the dry land.

Jonah 1:9 He said to them, “I am a Hebrew, and I fear the LORD God of heaven who made the sea and the dry land.”

We ought, also, to praise the Creator, alone, who commanded all things into existence.

Psa. 104:1 Bless the LORD, O my soul!
O LORD my God, You are very great;
You are clothed with splendor and majesty,
Psa. 104:2 Covering Yourself with light as with a cloak,
Stretching out heaven like a tent curtain.
Psa. 104:3 He lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters;
He makes the clouds His chariot;
He walks upon the wings of the wind;
Psa. 104:4 He makes the winds His messengers,
Flaming fire His ministers.
Psa. 104:5 He established the earth upon its foundations,
So that it will not totter forever and ever.

Psa. 146:5 How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
Whose hope is in the LORD his God,
Psa. 146:6 Who made heaven and earth,
The sea and all that is in them;
Who keeps faith forever;

Psa. 148:1 Praise the LORD!
Praise the LORD from the heavens;
Praise Him in the heights!
Psa. 148:2 Praise Him, all His angels;
Praise Him, all His hosts!
Psa. 148:3 Praise Him, sun and moon;
Praise Him, all stars of light!
Psa. 148:4 Praise Him, highest heavens,
And the waters that are above the heavens!
Psa. 148:5 Let them praise the name of the LORD,
For He commanded and they were created.

Isaiah asks what many must answer unfortunately as no:

Is. 40:28 Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The Everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth Does not become weary or tired.
His understanding is inscrutable.

They do not know that the everlasting, only One Person is He, is the Creator

They further do not know that God created the heavens and the Earth all alone, with no help.
Is. 42:5 Thus says God the LORD,
Who created the heavens and stretched them out,
Who spread out the earth and its offspring,
Who gives breath to the people on it
And spirit to those who walk in it,

The following verse leaves no doubt that God, "all alone," created the heavens and the earth by Himself. Where is there room for a Spokesman, Word-Being, or the second person of the Trinity when God "spread out the earth all alone?"

Is. 44:24 ¶ Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, and the one who formed you from the womb,
“I, the LORD, am the maker of all things,
Stretching out the heavens by Myself
And spreading out the earth all alone,

The Only God Himself

Jesus repeatedly acknowledged the One God.

Mat 4:10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’ [ Deut. 6:13 ]”

The person who acknowledges the Truth that there is only One God, the Creator, and His Son whom He gave us has received eternal life.

Joh 17:3 Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

Remember where God said He created the heavens and the earth through His wisdom.

Rom 16:27 to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.

The following verses continue to maintain the Truth that God is one Person.

1Ti 1:17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Jud 1:25 to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore!
Gen 22:8 Abraham answered, “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” And the two of them went on together.
Deu 3:22 Do not be afraid of them; the LORD your God himself will fight for you.”
Deu 31:3 The LORD your God himself will cross over ahead of you. He will destroy these nations before you, and you will take possession of their land. Joshua also will cross over ahead of you, as the LORD said.
Jos 23:5 The LORD your God himself will drive them out of your way. He will push them out before you, and you will take possession of their land, as the LORD your God promised you.
Jos 24:17 It was the LORD our God himself who brought us and our fathers up out of Egypt, from that land of slavery, and performed those great signs before our eyes. He protected us on our entire journey and among all the nations through which we traveled.

The heavens must proclaim God’s righteousness because it must reflect who God is.

Psa 50:6 And the heavens proclaim his righteousness, for God himself is judge. Selah

Joh 8:41 You are doing the things your own father does.” “We are not illegitimate children,” they protested. “The only Father we have is God him-self.”
Act 7:35 “This is the same Moses whom they had rejected with the words, ‘Who made you ruler and judge?’ He was sent to be their ruler and deliverer by God him-self, through the angel who appeared to him in the bush.
1Co 15:27 For he “has put everything under his feet.” [ Psalm 8:6 ] Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ.
1Th 5:23 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Rev 21:3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.

If you have not heard, you will now. Furthermore, faith and obedience rest on the understanding that the One God created the heavens and the earth "all alone."

Isa 40:28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

Ro.16:26 but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all nations might believe and obey him--

The God and Father

Yes, the one God did create us.

1. Mal 2:10 Have we not all one Father [ Or father ]? Did not one God create us? Why do we profane the covenant of our fathers by breaking faith with one another?

These several scriptures state that God is the Father of Jesus. If Father, then He begot Jesus. Further, God is the God of Jesus, which makes it impossible for Jesus to be the second person of a Trinity or any kind of a god. Hebrews note that Jesus came into existence today, not some in some misty past. (Heb 1:5 and 5:5)

2. 2Co 1:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,

3. 2Co 11:31 The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, who is to be praised forever, knows that I am not lying.

4. Eph 1:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

5. Eph 1:17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit [ Or a spirit ] of wisdom and revel a-ti on, so that you may know him better.

6. Col 1:3 We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you,

7. 1Pe 1:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

8. Rom 15:6 so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9. Rom 15:6 so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. (8)

10. 1Co 8:6 yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.

This scripture says it all to those who are willing to listen.

11. Eph 4:6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

Jesus’ Father is our Father. Jesus’ God is our God.

12.Joh 20:17 Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

13. Re.22:1 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb.

Besides the God and Father of Jesus, these scriptures remind us that He is Our Father in Heaven.

Psa 68:5 A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.
Psa 89:26 He will call out to me, ‘You are my Father, my God, the Rock my Savior.’
Joh 6:27 Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”
Rom 15:6 so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Gal 1:3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ,
Gal 1:4 who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,
Gal 1:5 to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Eph 5:20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Phi 4:20 To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Col 1:2 To the holy and faithful [ Or believing ] brothers in Christ at Colosse: Grace and peace to you from God our Father. [ Some manuscripts Father and the Lord Jesus Christ ]
1Th 3:11 Now may our God and Father himself and our Lord Jesus clear the way for us to come to you.
1Th 3:13 May he strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all his Holy Ones.
Tit 1:4 To Titus, my true son in our common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.

As noted below, this scripture among others tell us when Jesus came into existence, i.e., begotten or born.

Heb 1:5 For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son; to-day I have become your Father [Or have begotten you]” [Psalm 2:7]? Or again, “I will be his Father, and he will be my Son” [2 Samuel 7:14; 1 Chron. 17:13]?

Not only did God plan to have a Son in the beginning for whom is the creation, He also planned to have us as part of His family.

1Pe 1:2 who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by his blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance.

And also provided for us an inheritance.

1Pe 1:4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade--kept in heaven for you,
1Pe 1:5 who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
Rev 1:6 and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father-- to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.

At One with God

Joh 17:11 I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name-- the name you gave me-- so that they may be one as we are one.

Believers are at one with God, just as Jesus was and is, i.e., have the same purpose and language as God.

Deu 6:13 Fear the LORD your God, serve him only and take your oaths in his name.

Notice it does not say serve them only.

Joh 5:44 How can you believe if you accept praise from one another, yet make no effort to obtain the praise that comes from the only God [Some early manuscripts the Only One]?

Conclusion

The first verse of the Bible says it all: “In the beginning God created…” by His own hand, by His command, by the power His ruwach, and by Him alone. “And God said…” He said it; no one else said it. All the rest of the Bible confirms what the first few verses in Genesis make quite clear.

I'm a little slow, so until some one finds a scripture that says, ‘God the Son’ or ‘Jesus is the lord our God,’ I think almost two hundred scriptures above must stand unchallenged. The Biblical principle is, when the Bible says the same thing over and over, the few confusing scriptures are mistranslations or misconceptions. The Bible, of course, can be made to say anything by taking scriptures in isolation or out of context.

As a linguist, I know what a word is: a group of sounds with meaning. How sounds can be a being is linguistically and scientifically improbable. How does a sound intelligently move about the universe talking and creating, like a living being? Sounds are vibrations in air, liquid, or solids. They have no volition or individual purpose. Even sounds with meaning only convey that meaning to another by means of a communication matrix, if you will. This matrix includes an encoder, a speaker, a channel which carries the sounds in air or electronically as in a telephone or by electromagnetic waves as in a radio, and an encoder which deciphers the sounds ultimately by the ear and brain or by an ear piece in a phone or receiver in a radio. Sounds are not alive, but their meanings if given by God give life.

Because some use the verse saying the Word was made flesh to say that Jesus previously existed as the Word-Being completely misrepresent what the verse says. Just as God said, “Let there be light,” the Word or words became light. Obviously, the Word was not light but the cause of light. The same is true of Jesus; the Word, God’s Word, caused Jesus to come into existence, i.e., begotten of the Word and Spirit.

If God is One, and He is, and if God created light and He did, only the One God by Himself alone is the Creator. Things equal to the same thing are also equal to one another, a basic mathematical principle. God = One. God = Creator. Creator = One.

Hear O Christian, the Lord our God is One. Praise God.

God bless,
