God Is Our Father

Root Sounds

The first word in Hebrew is ab, father. Whether or not father represents also the foremost of all the words in Hebrew cannot be properly proved.  Nonetheless, more than any other appellation for God, Father, the word rightly represents a formidable and insightful aspect of God. Let us examine Our Father in Heaven.

Delving deeper, abah, a root sound of ab means “to be willing.” God enthusiastically and willingly created people in His image, created an earth to support them, created foods of all kinds to nourish them and created all that is good for them.

14. hDbDa abah [2c]; a prim. root; to be willing, to consent.

As just noted, Our Father shaped, formed and created the universe, Earth and all life on it. Naturally, here a tenuous, linguistic root sound exists between father and creator, and because fathers do create life.

Creator 1254a. bara [135b]; a prim. root; to shape, create.

Another previous article examined God being a Rock; God, as noted, had dependability akin to the rocks and stones found in the creation. A father as a rock continues as one of the root sounds of ab.

Rock 68. eben [6b]; a prim. root; a stone.

Father Has Children

God purposefully planned, in the beginning, to form people made in His image; so that they would have an existence filled with joy, lovingkindness and a fullness of life that comes from living in the ways of their Father. Man made in the Image of God, makes him a son of God because he comes from only God.

Since Our Father owned all that He created and made, He could give some of His authority to His children; in this case they could rule all life on Earth.

Gen. 1:26 ¶ Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
Gen. 1:27 God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Indeed, the interesting aspect of God’s forming man from the “dust,” Strong’s calls it clay, which makes better sense since one would be unable to form dust into anything. The term the “breath of life” bursting with meaning tells us that people need air to live and a mind to contain the language God gave Adam.

Gen. 2:7 Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

We see the root sound connection of breath and person; the air the lungs get to give oxygen to every cell of the body and the nature of the person – a “living being,” one being alive as an individual with passions, appetites and emotions.  People receive a personhood of amazing proportions.

5301. naphach [655d]; a prim. root; to breathe, blow.

5315. nephesh [659b]; from an unused word; a soul, living being, life, self, person, desire, passion, appetite, emotion.

With the mind and organs Our Father gave to His children, they could learn about Him from what He created. They can see how the sun warms the Earth and causes things to grow and, for example, see the interrelationship of various species as providing food for some and keeping certain species from running wild. The Psalmist extols God’s glory as clearly observed from His creation within the heavens.

Psa. 19:1 The heavens are telling of the glory of God;
And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.
Psa. 19:2 Day to day pours forth speech,
And night to night reveals knowledge.

Light, air, water and all living things God provided in the creation. These essentials cannot be made or synchronized by people.

Father of Language and Communication

The Greek word for word is logos, defined below:

3056. lo/goß logos, log´-os; from 3004; something said (including the thought); by implication, a topic (subject of discourse), also reasoning (the mental faculty) or motive; by extension, a computation;

3004. lego; a prim. vb.; to say

John 1:1 ¶  In the beginning was the Word [God said, “Light”] and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

As we have said innumerable times, a person is made up of many languages, from verbal to intercellular and body language. Language and communication contains the underlying nature of the world, which string theory can attest to. Therefore, the Word was with God and His Word defined Him. Logos cannot be a person because it is speaking. Sounds cannot go around masquerading as people.

John 1:2 He (God’s Word) was in the beginning with God.

Therefore, the Torah was in God’s mind before the beginning.

John 1:3 All things came into being through Him (God’s Word), and apart from Him (Our Father) nothing came into being that has come into being.

Since all language is learned, God taught Adam language, and he named the creatures of the Earth.  Communication completed the manner of people’s relationship with one another and with all living creatures. Man plants the seed, the seed responds to the warmth of the sun and water and grows into food, which people harvest and eat.

Our Father’s language remains the source of the creation and His great gift to His progeny.

Our Father Provides

God provides food, clothing, shelter and transportation

Foods come in the several forms of vegetables, meats, grains and others.

The provisions God created need the cooperation of people to work; some grow food, others make clothing, people provide shelter and transportation. In order to obtain what God has provided, people must keep the commandments regarding adultery, stealing, murdering, lying and coveting in order to work together to provide for each other. God built His commandments into the creation. These commandments provide inherent rewards to the provider and consumer.

Food Chain

“Food chains vary in length from three to six or more levels. A food chain consisting of a flower, a frog, a snake and an owl consists of four levels; whereas a food chain consisting of grass, a grasshopper, a rat, a snake and finally a hawk consists of five levels. Producers are organisms that utilize solar energy or heat energy to synthesize starch, e.g. plants. All food chains must start with a producer. Consumers are organisms that eat other organisms. All organisms in a food chain, except the first organism, are consumers.” Wikipedia

Our Father created a system that would insure food would be available even without the intervention of people planting, fertilizing, watering and harvesting the crops and food. The food chain must always exist in order to provide the existence of the living entities. Obviously, these exist because of the other essentials like the perfect ratio of the gasses in the atmosphere.

Materials from animals and vegetation require work to make them into, say, apparel.

Ex. 20:9 “Six days you shall labor and do all your work,

Authority

Our Father has authority by His creation. He gives authority to people as stated above. Additionally, He gives certain people authority over other people, like kings over subjects or presidents over citizens. While all people accept those who rule over them, their ultimate authority comes not from the ones who put them in their position, but from Our Father.

Those who put them there have overthrown those in authority, but it is Our Father who gives the governors their authority. Remember Israel never overthrew Pharaoh, and he commanded Israel to leave his domain.

Rom. 13:1 ¶ Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.

Provision

Other than providing all people need to live, Our Father provides all people need in circumstances where they cannot provide for themselves. Sometimes He does it directly; sometimes people imitate their Father by helping the helpless.

Deut. 1:31 and in the wilderness where you saw how the LORD your God carried you, just as a man carries his son, in all the way which you have walked until you came to this place.’

Discipline

All Fathers discipline their children according to their needs and ability to handle several methods of correction.

Deut. 8:5 “Thus you are to know in your heart that the LORD your God was disciplining you just as a man disciplines his son.

Prov. 3:12 For whom the LORD loves He reproves,
Even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.

Cares

Our Father cares for His children by His actions, not just words.

Deut. 11:12 a land for which the LORD your God cares; the eyes of the LORD your God are always on it, from the beginning even to the end of the year.

The needy have a Father who picks them up like a father carries his son over harsh domain.

Psa. 27:10 For my father and my mother have forsaken me,
But the LORD will take me up.

Psa. 68:5 A father of the fatherless and a judge for the widows,
Is God in His holy habitation.

Psa. 103:13 Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.

Our Father provides a way of life and teaches His children how to obtain it through His Word, especially the Torah and Ten Commandments.

Accepts His Special People into His Family Again

Throughout history only a tiny few feared Our Father and struggled to emulate Him in word and deed. Many of these returned to Him as His Sons and Daughters.

Ex. 4:22 “Then you shall say to Pharaoh, ‘Thus says the LORD, “Israel is My son, My firstborn.

1069. bakar [114a]; a prim. root; to bear new fruit, to constitute as first-born:

Our Father receives those who make Him their Father by their obedience and faithfulness to His Covenants.

Ex. 19:5 ‘Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine;

Brings Them Joy

Our Father brings His Children great joy without even having seen Him.

1Pet. 1:8 and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,

Our Father’s Words complete the joy He gives them.

1John 1:4 These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete.
2John 12  Though I have many things to write to you, I do not want to do so with paper and ink; but I hope to come to you and speak face to face, so that your joy may be made full.

Our Father gives His own the powerful joy that can come from no one or anything else.

Jude 24  Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy,

Light

As Our Father’s adopted Sons and Daughters, His light permeates our lives to light our way and enlighten the Spirit within.

1John 1:5 This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.

Incumbent upon Father to train and build up sons into the best they can be, in the likeness of God.

Matt. 5:45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

Our Father’s Family

God built His Family from Noah onward. All these were the ancestors, physical, of His Family until today and onward.

1121. N;Eb ben, bane; from 1129; a son (as a builder of the family name), in the widest sense (of literal and figurative relationship, including grandson, subject, nation, quality or condition.

Hos. 11:1 When Israel was a youth I loved him, And out of Egypt I called My son.

Jer. 31:9  “With weeping they will come, And by supplication I will lead them; I will make them walk by streams of waters,  On a straight path in which they will not stumble;  For I am a father to Israel,  And Ephraim is My firstborn.”

Our Father never lets His Family disappear and die out.

Is. 43:5 Do not fear, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east,  And gather you from the west.
Is. 43:6  “I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’  And to the south, ‘Do not hold them back.’  Bring My sons from afar  And My daughters from the ends of the earth,
Is. 43:7  Everyone who is called by My name,  And whom I have created for My glory,  Whom I have formed, even whom I have made.”

Jer. 3:19  “Then I said,  ‘How I would set you among My sons  And give you a pleasant land,  The most beautiful inheritance of the nations!’  And I said, ‘You shall call Me, My Father,  And not turn away from following Me.’

Completing Our Father’s Family

Our Father breathed into Adam the breath of life, a spirit within, that gave him life and a intellectual mind. Later, as mentioned in psalms, Our Father put His Spirit, mind, breath and wind, in those who completed accepted Our Father as their Father, Creator and God.

Jesus came to his cousin, John, to be baptized as many others were doing in the day. After he came out of the river, God spoke to him.

Luke 3:21 ¶ Now when all the people were baptized, Jesus was also baptized, and while He was praying, heaven was opened,
Luke 3:22 and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in bodily form like a dove, and a voice came out of heaven, “You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased.”

Our Father told Jesus after being baptized that He made him His son. At that moment, then, Jesus became Our Father’s only begotten son, not like Israel but on the next phase. First Our Father formed His first human son, Adam, who rejected His Father and God. Later, Noah and others remained true to Our Father in word and deed. Our Father developed His Family until the time of Jesus.

Then He implanted His Spirit, mind, wind and breath into Jesus who then became His only begotten son on this level. That day Our Father begot Jesus.

Heb. 1:5 ¶ For to which of the angels did He ever say,
            “YOU ARE MY SON,
            TODAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN YOU”?
And again,
“I WILL BE A FATHER TO HIM
AND HE SHALL BE A SON TO ME”?

The son of man became the Son of Our Father. While the human part of Jesus continued to be Our Father’s son; Our Father adopted him because he was now filled with His Spirit, mind, wind and breath of Our Father. Jesus was not yet complete. He had to complete the final stage of life and Sonship.

Immediatey upon becoming Our Father’s son as the Spirit filled person, Satan tested him; we know that he passed the test. Thereafter, Jesus went about preaching the gospel of the Kingdom of God and healing those who had the faith.

One last test, something far more important happened. As we know Jesus had never broken the Covenant by never sinning against the Words of the Covenant, the Ten Commandments. That Passover after the improve ritual — eating the bread (the new lamb, drinking the wine (the new spilled blood) and washing the Apostles feet. Soon after Jesus was taken, beaten almost to death and finally died on the cross for the forgiveness of all the sins of all sinners. When Our Father begets a son, much is expected of him or her, including trials, but not more than a person would able to handle. Jesus handled the worst of all trials.

After spending three days and three nights in the tomb, Our Father resurrected Jesus and transformed him into the first son in the Spiritual realm. With the resurrection, Jesus made it possible for many others to be embued with the Spirit and become adopted of Our Father and would enter the Spirit realm when Jesus returns to rule by His Father’s authority on Earth until the great change.

Rom. 1:4 who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord,

In the New Testament, Our Father’s Family largely included those who believed His Word and acted accordingly. These showed their sonship by their deeds.

in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men.

The righteous of Our Father will emulated His Nature and light.

Matt. 13:43 “Then THE RIGHTEOUS WILL SHINE FORTH AS THE SUN in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.

Our Father greatly attests His love of His Family, His Sons and Daughters.

John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,
John 1:13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

Covenant

Our Father completed restoring His People into His Family and His bequeathing the Kingdom to His Family by His eternal Covenant. Jesus’ blood, paying for our sins, leading to his death enabled others to receive their inheritance. Dying in baptism, being resurrected in emerging from the waters, having hands laid upon them, receiving the Spirit within  and finally being resurrected like Jesus completed that eternal Covenant and adoption.

Heb. 9:15 ¶ For this reason He is the mediator of a new covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.

Abba

All people have One Father, beginning with Adam, whom God formed from the clay of the Earth, Noah and all else. He wants the best for His Children and brings them up accordingly. Sometimes the correction is mortal, but all die. At the right time God will resurrect His Adopted Children to eternal life and all others who lived to give them a chance at eternal life as well.

Amen
